    Spring Cleaning

They say March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb. For some parts of the country, March may stay a lion a little while longer. But once the storms stop, even for an allotted sunny weekend, don't forget to inspect a few things around your home to see how they're holding up.

Check the weatherstripping around your doors and windows. Not only will proper weatherstripping help you save on your electricity bill by keeping that cool air from escaping, it will also prevent water from penetrating your home during the spring storms.

If you live in parts of the country which may see some ice and snow, do an inspection on your roof and see what shape your shingles are in. Weakended shingles with even the slightest holes can cause slow leaks and water damage over time.

While you're on the roof, inspect your gutters. Leaves, debris, and sometimes even pest can clog gutters and prevent them from properly draining. This can lead to foundation issues, washing out your lawn, or creating a 'nice', moist environment for termites.

A few hours of preventative inspection and maintenance on a Saturday could save you big in the long run.
